Chapter 83

Yun Pianpian turned her head.
In the courtyard, now overcast with dark clouds, stood a handsome man dressed in robes as black as ink, silent and still.
His thin lips were pressed tightly together, his expression was gloomy.
Those deep, ink, black eyes, cold as a wintry pond, were suppressing icy rage, glaring fiercely at her.
“Try calling him that again.” The man's voice was low and chilling, carrying a sharp, furious edge that made one tremble as if stained with blood.
Huh, such intense killing intent.
Although Yun Pianpian didn't know who he was, she felt chilled to the bone by the icy aura emanating from him.
The heart buried in her chest began to beat uncontrollably, as if it were about to leap out of her ribcage.
Yun Pianpian thought this frantic heartbeat was because she was afraid of the man before her.
The man held a small white dog in his hand. The dog gazed at her with its moist, dark eyes, wagging its tongue enthusiastically as if greeting her.
“Woof woof!”
This strange pair, the master looking as if he were about to pounce and bite her to death, and the pet looking as if it were about to pounce and lick her to death.
In short, it was quite terrifying.
The man released his grip, and the little white dog eagerly rushed toward Yun Pianpian, wrapping itself around her calf, lifting its head, and wagging its tail joyfully.
The man's gaze was dark and menacing as he stared at her.
“Come here.”
Yun Pianpian didn't move.
He seemed dangerous and she didn't dare to approach him at all.
The man slowly clenched his pale fingers.
Lifting his eyelashes, his dark, cold eyes gradually took on a crimson, bloody glow.
“Are you going to betray me?”
The man's voice was low and hoarse.
Yun Pianpian was stunned.
Could he be the great antagonist, Xiao Changyuan?
Meanwhile, when Jiang Sheyu heard Xiao Changyuan's gloomy, icy voice, it felt as if all the blood in his body had been suddenly drained.
The smile on his lips froze on his face.
He hadn't expected Xiao Changyuan to find this place so quickly.
But, how was it possible?
He hadn't left any clues behind. The one who stole Yun Pianpian was Chu Yi, and all those assassins were dead soldiers, they would never betray him. So how did Xiao Changyuan find this place?
Unless.
Jiang Sheyu's dark gaze fell upon Buling Buling…Unless this dog was the problem.
His gaze grew colder.
If only he had told Chu Yi to kill this troublesome little dog before stealing Yun Pianpian.
But now, the mistake had already been made. No matter how much he regretted it, it was useless. The only thing left to do was to kneel and beg Xiao Changyuan for mercy, hoping to at least keep his body intact.
Jiang Sheyu's lips were bloodless, his face pale as he knelt at Xiao Changyuan's feet. “Your humble servant pays respects to Your Majesty.”
Hearing Jiang Sheyu's words, Yun Pianpian felt a bit dazed. The terrifying man before her was indeed Xiao Changyuan, the most dangerous and sinister villain from the original story.
Xiao Changyuan didn't even glance at Jiang Sheyu, his cold and gloomy gaze fixed solely on Yun Pianpian.
He slowly walked toward her step by step.
Each step felt like it was treading on her heart.
Yun Pianpian's heart raced wildly, her toes curling involuntarily.
She thought she must be terrified of him, otherwise, her heart wouldn't be beating this fast.
Xiao Changyuan slowly approached Yun Pianpian.
His expression was tense.
He raised his hand slowly.
“Come back to the palace with me.”
Yun Pianpian looked toward Jiang Sheyu: “Husband.”
“Your Majesty, the Empress!”
Jiang Sheyu suddenly raised his voice, drowning out Yun Pianpian's call. He buried his head deeply to the ground, drenched in cold sweat. “Your humble servant respectfully sends off Her Majesty the Empress and His Majesty back to the palace.”
Hearing Jiang Sheyu's words, Yun Pianpian felt somewhat disoriented.
A melodramatic phrase suddenly popped into her mind:
“The emperor seizing his subject's wife!”
Oh heavens, this is too tragic!
In that instant, Yun Pianpian recalled Tao Wei and Pei Yan from the author's previous works, the emperor seizing his subject's wife, causing chaos in the palace, dying tragically in the deep palace, longing but never obtaining.
She felt drenched in melodrama.
The absurdity of it made her head spin.
Yun Pianpian thought Jiang Sheyu was too afraid to defy Xiao Changyuan's tyranny, so he had handed her over. A pang of bitterness rose in her heart. She didn't resent Jiang Sheyu for his actions, but she couldn't help feeling disappointed in him.
Seeing Yun Pianpian's gaze still fixed on Jiang Sheyu, Xiao Changyuan's chest swelled with fury. Unable to contain himself any longer, he pulled her tightly into his embrace.
“Don't look at him.”
The man's eyes were bloodshot as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
“You are only allowed to look at me!”
Yun Pianpian blinked her long, thick lashes, her gaze somewhat vacant.
In her mind, five even more melodramatic phrases emerged:
“Forced possession!
No escape!
Imprisonment!
Dark room!
Coerced love!”
These five absurd phrases crashed into Yun Pianpian's mind like giant meteors, making her dizzy, seeing stars, and nearly scaring her into fainting.
Yun Pianpian: “...”
My name is Yun Pianpian. I've transmigrated into a novel called Song’s End. On my first day, I encountered the battlefield of the male and female leads turning against each other. On my second day, I faced the tragic, love, filled scenario of the villain forcing possession.
I'm just a newbie at transmigration.
I can't handle such intense plotlines.
I beg you, dear author, spare me!
I'll kowtow to you!
o(╥﹏╥)o
Xiao Changyuan scooped Yun Pianpian up into his arms. Instinctively, she clutched the front of his robe, her clear, almond, shaped eyes suddenly filling with confusion. The motion felt familiar, as if she had done it thousands, tens of thousands of times before.
Yun Pianpian looked up at Xiao Changyuan, her face pale.
“Where are you taking me?”
Xiao Changyuan stared at her with bloodshot eyes, his handsome face cold and devoid of warmth, his voice low and icy.
“Back to the palace.”
Terrified, Yun Pianpian's lashes trembled, her face ashen, her entire body shaking uncontrollably. Yet, she didn't dare push Xiao Changyuan away because she knew how dangerous and fearsome he was in the original story. She wanted to survive.
Xiao Changyuan glanced down at her.
His brow furrowed but he pressed his lips tightly together and said nothing.
Xiao Changyuan turned to leave. As he passed Jiang Sheyu, who was prostrated on the ground, his steps paused. His expression was dark and chilling: “I give you three hours. Think carefully about how you will explain yourself to me later.”
Jiang Sheyu's lips were bloodless: “Yes, Your Majesty.”
Xiao Changyuan's gaze was icy and bloodthirsty.
Though he was already boiling with rage, his chest screaming with a desire to tear Jiang Sheyu, the one who had captured Yun Pianpian's attention to shreds, to crush him into pulp, he still remembered that his Pianpian disliked the sight of blood.
She was so delicate that the sight of blood would give her nightmares.
So, with immense self, control, Xiao Changyuan suppressed the murderous intent raging in his chest and spared Jiang Sheyu.
Xiao Changyuan used his inner strength to carry Yun Pianpian away. Suspended high in the air, she was terrified, squeezing her eyes shut and clutching tightly at the front of his robes.
Buling Buling followed behind them cheerfully.
It had finally helped its master find his lady.
Aside from Buling Buling, Xiao Changyuan had brought no one else out of the palace. Holding Yun Pianpian in his arms, he left the Jiang residence. The officers were searching everywhere for Chu Yi. When they saw Xiao Changyuan emerge from the Jiang residence, they dared not look at the woman in his arms and knelt in unison: “Your Majesty.”
“Rise.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
Xiao Changyuan commanded the commander: “Keep watch over Jiang Sheyu. No one is to enter or leave.”
“Yes, Your Majesty.”
The officers surrounded the Jiang residence.
Jiang Sheyu looked at the garden full of blooming flowers, but there was no one left to enjoy them with him.
He stood up and let out a bitter laugh to himself.
Xiao Changyuan carried Yun Pianpian away, returning unimpeded to the palace. He brought her directly to his bedchamber and expressionlessly set her down by the bathing pool. He raised his hand to remove her clothes.
Yun Pianpian, pale with fright, clutched her garments tightly.
“Don't.”
“Don't what?”
“Don't take off my clothes.”
Xiao Changyuan coldly lifted his dark, thick lashes.
“Do you want to take it off yourself?”
Yun Pianpian was so frightened her lips lost all color, her gaze grew vacant and dazed.
Was this forced love truly unavoidable?
Yun Pianpian couldn't help but feel overwhelming sorrow.
Xiao Changyuan watched her with icy cold eyes.
“Why did you call Jiang Sheyu your husband?”
Yun Pianpian replied, “Because he is my husband.”
“If you say one more word.”
The man pressed her against the cold screen, glaring fiercely into her eyes, “I will bite you to death.”
Yun Pianpian couldn't hold back her tears.
She had indeed been right earlier.
This great tyrant truly wanted to bite her to death.
Xiao Changyuan slowly clenched his pale fingers, then gradually relaxed them. Suppressing the burning rage spreading in his heart, he lowered his gaze to her. “You've only been away from me for a day, and you've already fallen for this pretty boy?”
Clearly, Yun Pianpian was the one being forcibly taken.
Yet she felt that the great tyrant's face seemed even more resentful than hers.
Like an abandoned, bitter husband.
But what did Xiao Changyuan mean by his words?
Yun Pianpian blinked.
Her clear, sparkling almond, shaped eyes brimmed with confusion.
Had Xiaohua just left Xiao Changyuan?
Xiao Changyuan pressed his thin lips together, his dark, gloomy eyes fixed on Yun Pianpian, his expression seemingly displeased. “Are you still holding a grudge against me over the Little Butterfly incident?”
Yun Pianpian grew even more puzzled.
What Little Butterfly?
Xiao Changyuan lowered his eyelashes, discontent evident. “She was just a passerby. I only like you.”
Yun Pianpian, inexplicably confessed to, felt her cheeks flush, her heart raced wildly.
Xiao Changyuan slightly furrowed his brows.
“Why aren't you speaking?”
Yun Pianpian tried hard to keep her mouth shut.
Xiao Changyuan's gaze turned icy.
“Speak.”
Sensing the coldness in his tone, Yun Pianpian trembled and said with a hint of grievance, “Your Majesty, didn't you just tell me not to speak?”
The great tyrant was indeed unpredictable and moody, just as described in the original story.
Xiao Changyuan narrowed his phoenix eyes dangerously, leaning closer to her face. “Why are you calling me 'Your Majesty'?”
The man's frosty gaze was like an abyss.
“Are you still dissatisfied with me?”
Yun Pianpian asked, “Then what should I call you?”
“Husband.”
Yun Pianpian gasped in shock.
So the great villain was also Xiaohua's husband.
She secretly admired this.
Sister Xiaohua was truly remarkable to have two husbands.
In comparison, Yun Pianpian felt she was utterly useless.
Xiao Changyuan frowned. “Have you damaged your brain from sleeping these past two years? You seem even more foolish.”
Yun Pianpian felt a pang of guilt.
Inwardly, she thought, It's not that Xiaohua has become foolish, but because I've possessed her body, making her appear foolish. I've brought shame upon Little Flower.
Yun Pianpian was filled with remorse.
Xiao Changyuan scowled and said, “Yun Pianpian, what exactly do you like about that pretty boy?”
He knew she was easily distracted, prone to being fickle.
His eyes held only Yun Pianpian, but Yun Pianpian's eyes held many things.
The sun, moon, stars, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, poetry, and fine wine.
He loved her, and he loved the world in her eyes, so he could tolerate her fickleness.
To her, this world held too many temptations, but that wasn't Yun Pianpian's fault.
It was the fault of those temptations.
He would kill those who tempted her, replace them and continue to tempt Yun Pianpian.
He would make sure Yun Pianpian could never leave him.
Xiao Changyuan had always believed that the little butterfly from his past grew tired of him and abandoned him. This belief left him in a vulnerable position in his relationship with Yun Pianpian. Though he held the esteemed title of Son of Heaven, deep down he was plagued by insecurity, rooted in Emperor Zhaoyan, rooted in that little butterfly, rooted in Yun Pianpian.
He wanted to do everything he could to win Yun Pianpian’s affection.
So that she wouldn’t abandon him.
Because his heart had long since turned into desolate ruins.
Only she could dance gracefully upon those ruins.
Leaving him utterly captivated, haunted by her in his dreams and thoughts.
Yun Pianpian slowly widened her clear eyes.
“How do you know my name?”
