Chapter 85

Jiang Sheyu, dressed in plain clothes, entered the palace to plead guilty. He waited at the palace gate for a while before a palace attendant led him to Golden Hall. Bowing his head, the attendant said, “Lord Jiang, His Majesty is inside.”
Jiang Sheyu stepped in.
The cold, faced emperor sat upright on the golden dragon throne, his dark, icy eyes fixed on him with a chilling gaze.
Jiang Sheyu knelt respectfully at the emperor’s feet.
“Your humble servant pays respects to Your Majesty.”
“Jiang Sheyu, do you admit your guilt?”
“Your humble servant admits his guilt.”
“What crime have you committed?”
Jiang Sheyu replied with sorrow and shame, “After rescuing Her Majesty the Empress, I should have immediately sent someone to inform Your Majesty, instead of being overly ambitious and attempting to capture all the rebels in one fell swoop.”
Xiao Changyuan’s gaze was mocking.
“Continue.”
Jiang Sheyu spoke slowly, “Your humble servant had met the rebel Chu Yi a few times. The night before last, Chu Yi suddenly abducted Her Majesty the Empress and brought her to my residence. He threatened to hide there, or else he would falsely accuse me of being his accomplice and use Her Majesty’s life as leverage.
To save the Empress, I had no choice but to feign cooperation with Chu Yi. I observed that Chu Yi appeared confident, as if he had another scheme. Fearing he might plot against Your Majesty, I tried to subtly gather information. Unexpectedly, this aroused Chu Yi’s suspicion. I had no choice but to deceive him, saying that my late wife resembled the Empress in appearance, and seeing Her Majesty reminded me of my wife.
I was worried he might harm the Empress, which was why I inquired about these matters. Upon hearing this, Chu Yi believed me. He then forced me to marry Her Majesty the Empress, intending to control me. Coincidentally, at that moment, the Empress regained consciousness but had lost her memory. To protect her, I had no choice but to deceive her, telling her that I was her husband, all to mislead Chu Yi and gain his trust.”
Jiang Sheyu was now immensely relieved that he had already sent Chu Yi and Ye Suxin out of his residence the day before. With no one to confront him, he could spin the tale as he pleased.
Behind the zitan wood screen carved with landscapes and pavilions, Yun Pianpian pricked up her ears, listening carefully to Jiang Sheyu’s account of the events. So, Xiaohua really was Xiao Changyuan’s Empress. Although she had already mostly believed Xiao Changyuan, hearing the truth from Jiang Sheyu’s mouth still felt somewhat unbelievable.
In the original story, the great antagonist was aloof and indifferent to women, living a solitary life and meeting his end alone in the snow.
In this lifetime, he actually had an Empress.
Jiang Sheyu bowed his head and said, “Chu Yi fell for the trap. I intended to gain his trust, infiltrate the enemy’s camp, and capture all the rebels in one sweep. However, I feared alerting the enemy and thus did not report to Your Majesty. I beg for Your Majesty’s punishment.”
After speaking, Jiang Sheyu buried his head deeply to the ground, not daring to look up at Xiao Changyuan’s expression.
Standing behind the screen, Yun Pianpian nodded repeatedly upon hearing this explanation. So that’s how it was, it seemed Jiang Sheyu hadn’t intentionally deceived her. All of this was for a greater scheme, and she could understand that.
In the resplendent, golden palace, the hall was utterly silent, not a sound to be heard.
Xiao Changyuan suddenly let out a low, cold laugh.
“So it seems.” He lifted his dark, sinister eyes and cast a mocking gaze at Jiang Sheyu, his pupils filled with icy ferocity. “Should I thank you for saving the Empress?”
Hearing the hidden bloodthirsty intent in Xiao Changyuan’s tone, Jiang Sheyu turned as pale as paper. “I wouldn’t dare.” Fearing that Xiao Changyuan would see through his lie, he trembled uncontrollably, his blood running cold.
From ahead came the Emperor’s frigid voice. “Where is Chu Yi?”
Cold sweat drenched Jiang Sheyu’s back. “Chu Yi’s beloved, Ye Suxin, had a conflict with him, and later, the two disappeared without a trace. The Empress is aware of this matter.”
Behind the screen, Yun Pianpian blinked. It was true that Ye Suxin and Chu Yi had quarreled, and she hadn’t seen them since. So they had gone missing.
Xiao Changyuan, seated on the dragon throne, remained silent for a long while.
Kneeling on the cold floor, Jiang Sheyu felt Xiao Changyuan’s bloodthirsty gaze sweep over him like a blade scraping away flesh. He was terrified, his body icy cold, his heart pounding violently in his chest.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally heard the Emperor’s indifferent voice.
“Enough. You may leave.”
Jiang Sheyu breathed a sigh of relief as if granted a pardon. He slowly rose and retreated from the golden hall, his back already soaked through with cold sweat.
Only when he saw the blazing sun outside did he feel as though he had come back to life, a wave of lingering fear washing over him.
After Jiang Sheyu left, Xiao Changyuan whispered to Yun Pianpian behind the screen, “Come out.”
Yun Pianpian stepped out.
Xiao Changyuan asked, “Do you believe me now?”
Yun Pianpian nodded quietly.
Xiao Changyuan reached out his hand. “Come here.”
Yun Pianpian hesitated for a moment before walking over.
Xiao Changyuan pulled her into his embrace and leaned in to kiss her, but Yun Pianpian pushed him away. Xiao Changyuan frowned slightly. “Why are you still refusing me? Jiang Sheyu has explained everything, you are my Empress.”
Yun Pianpian said softly, “But I have no memory of being the Empress. To me, you are still a stranger.”
Xiao Changyuan gazed at her deeply with his dark eyes. “Then how long do you intend to remain a stranger to me?”
Yun Pianpian turned her flushed face away.
“I don’t know.”
Every time she drew close to Xiao Changyuan, her heart would race wildly. At first, she thought it was fear, but now she realized, it was her heart stirring for him.
She was addicted to his warm, broad embrace, but she knew the one he loved was Xiaohua.
Xiao Changyuan appeared cold and intimidating, but he was actually a very gentle lover.
She forbade him from kissing her and he truly wouldn't kiss her.
He respected her deeply.
Xiao Changyuan's gaze toward others was terrifying, but his gaze toward her was gentle.
The tyrant had always been watching her with tender eyes.
He favored her so much.
If this continued, she was afraid she would truly fall in love with Xiao Changyuan.
She must keep her distance from him.
As the two walked toward the bedchamber, before Yun Pianpian even stepped through the door, she heard the rustling of paper. There was something she had long wanted to ask, but at the time she didn't dare. Now that she had confirmed Xiao Changyuan wasn't dangerous, she boldly asked.
“Why are there talisman papers plastered all over this chamber?”
In Xiao Changyuan's bedchamber, yellow talisman papers with cinnabar characters covered the walls. The flamboyant red symbols made the resplendent golden chamber appear eerie and unpredictable, as if this wasn't the imperial palace but the lair of a demon king.
Just looking at them made Yun Pianpian feel suffocated.
Xiao Changyuan lowered his eyelashes and said softly, “Two years ago, you fell unconscious and lost awareness. To trap your soul, I had Taoist priests perform rituals to lock your spirit, forever confining your soul within this bedchamber so you could never escape.”
Yun Pianpian was stunned. She suddenly realized she didn't need to be burned to death, if they just invited Taoist priests to exorcise the ghost, perhaps Xiaohua's soul could be returned. She was about to look up and tell Xiao Changyuan this happy news, but when she met his dark, profound eyes, an unexpected reluctance welled up in her heart.
Even though she had only known him for a day, it felt like she had loved this man for years.
Yun Pianpian said dejectedly, “Xiao Changyuan, haven't you noticed that I'm different from before?”
Xiao Changyuan replied, “Pianpian has become even more beautiful.”
Yun Pianpian: “...”
This isn't the time for you to confess your feelings for Xiaohua!
Yun Pianpian instantly turned into a jealous lemon.
Her heart soured unbearably.
Forget it, better a sharp pain than prolonged suffering.
Yun Pianpian wanted to clarify things with Xiao Changyuan before she fell too deep in love: “Xiao Changyuan, actually I'm not Yun Pianpian. Have you heard of soul transmigration?”
Xiao Changyuan's gaze tightened.
“You remember?”
Yun Pianpian was confused: “Remember what?”
Xiao Changyuan looked at Yun Pianpian for a moment.
“Nothing, continue.”
Feeling somewhat bewildered, Yun Pianpian continued, “I'm actually not the Yun Pianpian you think I am. Although I'm also called Yun Pianpian, I don't belong to this place. I come from the 21st century.”
Yun Pianpian couldn't bear to tell Xiao Changyuan that this world was just a novel, so she lied: “The 21st century is the future two thousand years from now. I don't know why I traveled here, but you can invite Taoist priests to perform rituals to drive me out of this body. Then the Yun Pianpian you love will return.”
Xiao Changyuan said, “There's no need to invite Taoist priests. You are the Yun Pianpian I love.”
Yun Pianpian was startled, staring at him blankly.
“Why are you so certain?”
Xiao Changyuan slowly raised his hand, gently touching the corner of Yun Pianpian's eye: “Pianpian's eyes are as beautiful as a cat's pupils. Even turned to ashes, I would recognize them.”
“You don't understand, I'm possessing this body, I'm a ghost.”
Xiao Changyuan said softly, “I understand everything, because my Pianpian also came from the future.”
Yun Pianpian froze. “What did you say?”
Xiao Changyuan spoke slowly, “You are her. She came from two thousand years in the future. She said she knew this period of history and that I am the infamous tyrant in history.”
Yun Pianpian stared blankly. “Why don’t I remember any of this?”
“Because my Pianpian lost her memory.”
Yun Pianpian finally understood, why Xiaohua shared her name, why Xiaohua liked the same dishes she did. It turned out she was that Xiaohua.
She felt uneasy. “Am I really her?”
Xiao Changyuan said, “Come with me.”
He took Yun Pianpian in the imperial carriage to his private treasury. The room was filled with dazzling treasures, their brilliance overwhelming Yun Pianpian. Xiao Changyuan led her to a chest inside the treasury. When he opened it, the contents stood in stark contrast to the rest of the treasury, simple clothes, books, and a stack of papers covered in neat handwriting.
Xiao Changyuan handed the stack of papers to Yun Pianpian.
“This is the scripture you copied by hand.”
When Yun Pianpian had fled back then, she only took silver notes with her, leaving all her other belongings behind at the inn.
Though furious at the time, Xiao Changyuan had still collected these items and stored them in his private treasury. The stack of papers was the ‘Scripture of Clarity and Tranquility’ that Yun Pianpian had copied by hand years ago.
Yun Pianpian took the papers from him. Seeing the familiar handwriting, her bright almond, shaped eyes widened slowly.
“This is my handwriting.”
“Do you believe me now?”
Yun Pianpian was still in a daze.
Xiao Changyuan whispered, “It’s alright if you don’t believe me. Once you regain your memories, you will.”
Yun Pianpian lifted her eyelashes in astonishment.
“I can recover my memories?”
Xiao Changyuan took Yun Pianpian’s hand, his pale, slender fingers gently stroking her wrist. His dark, intense gaze fell on her wound as he said coldly, “Originally, you couldn’t recover your memories, but then something unexpected happened.”
At first, he thought Yun Pianpian’s memory loss was due to sleeping for too long. If that were the only reason, he wished she would never remember.
That way, he could keep her forever.
But later, he noticed the scars on her wrist.
This scar, he once had it too.
He loathed that monster for controlling him with gu insects. He knew the gu worms would devour a person's body, and he had to extract this insect that could harm Yun Pianpian from her body.
Even if it meant she would regain her memories, find her way home once more and leave him forever.
Yun Pianpian looked at him with wide, pleading eyes. “When can I recover my memories? I want to remember as soon as possible.”
“Why?”
Yun Pianpian blushed, her cheeks flushing pink. “Because I want to know sooner whether the person you love is really me.”
Xiao Changyuan froze, his gaze darkening. “Does Pianpian, even after losing her memories, still like me?”
Yun Pianpian shyly nodded.
Her pink cheeks burned hot.
“I like you.”
“Don't like me so much.”
Xiao Changyuan gently kissed her eyelashes. “Just three parts of your heart for me is enough.”
“Why only three parts?”
“Because loving me too much will only hurt you. Two years ago, you took an arrow for me, and I almost lost you. I don't want to experience that nightmare a second time. I'd rather you had no heart, no feelings, and only three parts of affection for me. At least that way, you could live forever.”
If his Pianpian didn't love him, she would leave him.
If his Pianpian loved him too much, she would also leave him.
Different paths, same outcome.
Xiao Changyuan would rather she not love him so much.
Better to be a heartless, ungrateful wretch than to die for him.
That feeling of his heart tearing apart, Xiao Changyuan never wanted to experience it again.
Yun Pianpian whispered softly, “I promise you.”
Xiao Changyuan narrowed his phoenix eyes contentedly.
“Then, may I kiss you now?”
Yun Pianpian blushed, her eyes darting around nervously.
“Y, yes, you may.”
After restraining himself for two years, Xiao Changyuan finally lowered his head and captured her lips in a kiss.
The bright moon hung high in the sky, with sparse stars dotting the night.
Jiang Sheyu was about to sleep when he suddenly heard knocking at his door. “Who is it?” he asked.
There was no sound from outside.
Thinking it was a servant, he pushed the door open, but to his surprise, it was Xiao Changyuan standing there.
The cool moonlight bathed the emperor's stern, handsome face, making his aloof and solitary features appear as haunting and terrifying as a vengeful ghost from hell.
Jiang Sheyu immediately turned as pale as paper.
Xiao Changyuan's icy gaze fell upon him.
“Surprised?”
“Your Majesty, spare my life.”
The nightmare from two years ago repeated itself. Xiao Changyuan grabbed Jiang Sheyu by the collar, and a storm of fists rained down viciously on his face.
Jiang Sheyu was beaten until his vision darkened, the taste of blood rising in his throat. In his ears, he heard Xiao Changyuan's sinister, bloodthirsty voice: “I thought you were prepared to descend into hell when you dared to deceive your emperor today. It seems I overestimated you. How dare you, a laughable ant, fool me again and again? Jiang Sheyu, tell me, how should I crush you to death this time.”
Xiao Changyuan shattered Jiang Sheyu's bones one by one, just as he had two years before. Jiang Sheyu's limbs were crippled, and he was once again trapped in the nightmare of being unable to move.
He thought he wouldn't survive the day.
But unexpectedly, Xiao Changyuan spared him.
Though his limbs were immobile, Jiang Sheyu could still speak. Lying battered on the cold ground, he rasped, “Why did you spare me?”
Xiao Changyuan's voice was icy as he declared, “You did one thing right, saving my Empress.”
Jiang Sheyu's thoughts drifted to Yun Pianpian, his expression growing distant.
Xiao Changyuan's tone turned frigid. “Where is the person who planted the gu worm in Yun Pianpian hiding now?”
“This humble official does not know.”
“Jiang Sheyu. or should I call you the Fifth Prince of Northern Yong?”
Jiang Sheyu's pupils constricted. “How did you…“
Xiao Changyuan sneered. “Did you truly believe your schemes could remain hidden?”
“Then why did you allow me to serve as an official?”
Xiao Changyuan regarded him with arrogant, mocking eyes. “Is there any difference between one ant and another?”
In Xiao Changyuan's eyes, an ant from Northern Yong was no different from an ant from Mo Kingdom.
A chill ran through Jiang Sheyu's entire body. This nightmare was more terrifying than he had imagined. His heart tightened as he confessed, “The one who planted the gu worm in the Empress was Chu Yi. But Chu Yi has lost his memory now. The only one who can undo the gu is Jiang Jiang.”
“Jiang Jiang, daughter of the Gu King?”
“Yes.”
“Where is Jiang Jiang?”
“This humble official does not know.”
Xiao Changyuan pressed, “Do you have any token from her?”
“I have her bell.”
After retrieving the bell from the study, Xiao Changyuan ignored Jiang Sheyu and left the Jiang residence using inner strength.
It was only in the late hours of the night that Rui'er discovered Jiang Sheyu lying paralyzed on the ground. She hurriedly called for a physician.
Once again, Jiang Sheyu was wrapped in bandages like a mummy.
In recent days, three major events occurred in the capital.
The first: The Empress, who had been unconscious for nearly two years, finally awoke. Although some mishaps followed, the outcome was ultimately fortunate.
The second: Jiang Sheyu, a compiler at the Hanlin Academy, was injured by bandits. When his colleagues visited him, they found his entire body swathed in white bandages, his head wrapped up like a silkworm cocoon. Rumor had it that two years earlier, when Jiang Sheyu first joined the Hanlin Academy, he had also been recovering from injuries while wrapped in bandages. His colleagues began to suspect he had an unusual hobby of transforming himself into a cocoon every two years.
The third, and least significant: The capital's most popular brothel welcomed a memory, loss gentleman named Chu. It was said he possessed striking beauty and captivating charm, winning the favor of many patrons. His popularity incited jealousy among the courtesans and sparked brawls among other guests, eventually leading to lawsuits.
No one knew these three matters were actually one and the same.
A few days later, Xiao Changyuan rode out of the palace on a fine horse with Yun Pianpian, heading south to search for Jiang Jiang. This time, he brought thirty thousand imperial guards with him to capture her.
Buling Buling, wearing Jiang Jiang’s bell around its neck, caught the scent on the bell and began searching everywhere. Soon, following the abandoned trail, it found Jiang Jiang in Luoquan Mountain.
Xiao Changyuan’s martial arts were unparalleled; no one in the world could match him. Having lost her puppet, Ji Wuliang, Jiang Jiang had no one left to manipulate and was quickly defeated by Xiao Changyuan.
Jiang Jiang shrieked and wailed, “I’m just a child! You can’t hit a child! You’re inhuman!”
Xiao Changyuan expressionlessly broke her arm and sneered, “A child? Listen to the sound of your bones cracking, they’re clearly the bones of someone in their twenties. How dare you pretend to be a child?”
Jiang Jiang cried out in agony, “I was wrong! Don’t you want me to remove the gu for her? I’ll do it, alright?”
Jiang Jiang had begun cultivating gu worms in her body since she was six years old. Over twenty years had passed, yet her body still appeared to be that of a six year old. Many people let their guard down because of her appearance, but this trick didn’t work on Xiao Changyuan.
Xiao Changyuan brought Jiang Jiang before Yun Pianpian. Jiang Jiang took out a silver box from her bosom and was about to open it when Xiao Changyuan abruptly twisted her other arm, sneering, “Do you think I don’t know how to remove the gu?”
Jiang Jiang turned her head and tempted him with a frenzied look, “Wouldn’t it be better if I turned her into your puppet? Then she could stay by your side forever. She would never leave you, always obey your commands. You’re lonely too, aren’t you? Don’t you want a puppet to keep you company forever?”
“How pitiful.”
Xiao Changyuan looked at her mockingly, “You’ve never truly loved someone in your life, have you? That’s why you need such a disgusting puppet. You really are unfortunate.”
Jiang Jiang burst into loud sobs, provoked by his taunts.
Xiao Changyuan said coldly, “Next, which of your bones or meridians should I crush first…”
Jiang Jiang was immediately terrified by his sinister words and stopped crying at once. She cut her own wrist with a dagger and shook the bell in her hand, saying, “If you reopen the wound on her wrist, the gu worm will be drawn out by me.”
Xiao Changyuan frowned and looked at Yun Pianpian.
“Endure the pain.”
Yun Pianpian, pale-faced, nodded.
Xiao Changyuan swiftly cut her wrist.
A fine, narrow blood mark appeared on her fair, slender wrist. Jiang Jiang brought her bleeding wrist close to Yun Pianpian and shook the bell. Gradually, a moving bulge appeared under the skin of Yun Pianpian’s arm, slowly crawling downward. Unable to resist her curiosity, Yun Pianpian tried to look but was suddenly covered by Xiao Changyuan’s hand over her eyes.
“Close your eyes.”
Yun Pianpian had no choice but to obediently shut her eyes.
A blood-red worm crawled out from the wound on Yun Pianpian’s wrist. Feeling the damp, disgusting sensation, Yun Pianpian’s vision went black, and she fainted.
Xiao Changyuan caught Yun Pianpian in his arms.
He threw Jiang Jiang to the imperial guard commander and, carrying Yun Pianpian’s body, used his inner strength to ascend to the peak of Luoquan Mountain. Before they arrived, Yun Pianpian had once been in his arms, spiritedly saying she wanted to go to the mountaintop to see the beautiful sunset.
At the peak of Luoquan Mountain, the vegetation was lush and thriving. An endless expanse of emerald, green grassland stretched as far as the eye could see. A gentle breeze swept through, causing the small white wildflowers to peek in and out among the green grass, attracting butterflies to dance around them.
In the distance, the sun was setting over the Yu Abyss, casting a magnificent, radiant glow across the sky.
The crimson, golden sunset dyed the clouds in the sky a brilliant gold, with light and shadows shimmering gloriously, a scene both majestic and beautiful.
Xiao Changyuan held Yun Pianpian as they sat on the ground.
Yun Pianpian woke up in Xiao Changyuan's embrace.
She had finally remembered everything.
The pure and gentle Amnesiac Yuan.
The cold and ruthless Tyrant Yuan.
The young and aloof Boy Yuan.
The icy and lifeless Xiao Changyuan.
And the Original Yuan, who died in a pool of blood on the snowy ground.
She had experienced every stage of Xiao Changyuan's life, watching him grow from an innocent child into a cruel and despotic emperor. His youthful appearance, his bloodthirsty demeanor, his tender innocence, his utter despair, and even his lonely journey to death, all of it was vivid in her mind.
A low, husky voice sounded beside her ear.
“Awake?”
Yun Pianpian nodded, nestled in his arms.
Xiao Changyuan asked, “Is the sunset beautiful?”
Yun Pianpian nodded again in his embrace.
“Do you like the sunset, husband?”
“I do.”
“Why do you like it?”
“I enjoy watching it struggle in its final moments.”
Yun Pianpian: “...”
Xiao Changyuan continued, “No matter how powerful it is, it will eventually come to an end. Its struggles are futile.”
He knew that once she regained her memories, she would remember the way home. She now had the power to choose.
From this day forward, he would forever be trapped in the fear and agony of possibly losing her at any moment.
When he looked at this golden sunset, it was as if he saw his future self.
He, too, would eventually come to an end.
He knew he was engaging in a futile struggle against fate.
Everyone would leave him.
His mother, his grandfather, his elder brother, Little Butterfly.
He was destined to be abandoned by all.
To become truly alone in the world.
Yun Pianpian said, “I don’t think the sun is setting. Instead, it seems to be lighting the way for the night, greeting the darkness. Because the sun loves the night, it wants to show its most beautiful side to it.”
Xiao Changyuan remained silent.
He only tightened his arms, holding Yun Pianpian even closer, as if desperately drawing warmth from her.
Like a drowning person clinging to a floating log.
Yun Pianpian whispered, “I have good news to tell you. You’ll be very happy when you hear it.”
“Tell me you won’t leave me.”
The best news he could have heard was this sentence.
Yun Pianpian's eyes softened as she whispered, “Actually, during the two years I was unconscious, I traveled back to your childhood. I turned into a little tiger.”
The man's body stiffened abruptly.
Noticing his reaction, Yun Pianpian curved her lips into a smile and continued, “I spent two years with you, Xiao Changyuan. From now on, you must never scold me for being heartless again, because my heart was long ago devoured by you. You have to take responsibility for me.”
The arm holding her trembled slightly.
“Did it hurt?”
Tears welled up in Yun Pianpian's eyes as she comforted him, “It didn't hurt at all, really. At that time, my soul had already drifted away. They didn't cause me any pain, I swear.”
But he held her even tighter, his voice low and hoarse.
“It must have hurt terribly.”
Yun Pianpian held back her tears, forcing her voice to sound light and cheerful. “Later, I turned into a little butterfly and spent a summer playing with you. Did you think I had abandoned you? Actually, no, I died of old age. Butterflies don't live past summer. I'm not a fairy, so I died that summer. I'm sorry I didn't finish our last game with you and died in a corner.”
“You have nothing to apologize for.”
Xiao Changyuan held the person in his arms tightly.
Yun Pianpian lifted her small face to look at him. “Xiao Changyuan, let's continue that game, okay?”
“Okay.”
“Then close your eyes.”
Xiao Changyuan obediently closed his eyes.
Yun Pianpian gazed at his handsome, jade, like face. With his eyes closed, his features looked especially delicate and refined, like those of a youthful boy.
“You can open your eyes and look for me now.”
Xiao Changyuan opened his eyes, his dark, profound gaze fixed intently on her.
Yun Pianpian spread her arms and cheered as she threw herself into his embrace, pressing him down onto the lush green grass.
“The tyrant has found his little butterfly!”
That abruptly ended game had finally reached its most romantic conclusion.
That little butterfly had become Yun Pianpian, he had not been abandoned by anyone.
Xiao Changyuan's eyelashes fluttered slightly as he firmly grasped her slender, soft waist, flipped her over, and pinned her to the ground. His eyes burned crimson as he fiercely captured her red lips.
“Yun Pianpian, I love you.”
In the emerald wilderness, butterflies fluttered their wings, rising like falling petals soaring toward the sky.
The clouds blazed across the horizon, magnificent and romantic.
Love is the most tender and poignant of emotions.
It makes one feel the pain of a shattered heart, yet also the sweetness of honey, like satisfaction. It brings wounds, yet also heals them.
When love arrives, we become anxious and insecure. We fear possessing it, fear losing it, fear its fading, fear the fickleness of hearts, fear loving the wrong person.
We fear that our love will eventually come to an end.
But so what?
Indulge in the passion of this moment.
Do not ask whether dusk will fall.
Life is but a dream, years like a song.
Let the song fill the skies, without questioning the twilight.
