Chapter 27
Shen Youwei would never install cameras in her studio to spy on clients. And cameras couldn’t just appear out of nowhere.
“Could it have been the renovation workers?” Guan Shanyan speculated. Only the renovation workers had been frequently coming in and out.
“The owner of the renovation company is my brother’s friend. He even helped him set up a karaoke once. He wouldn’t do this.” Shen Youwei said.
“You never know people’s hearts!” Lu Zhaoye suggested the problem could be with the renovation company. “If it’s not us or the workers, could it have been Nan Xu’s team?”
Guan Shanyan’s eyes flickered, he didn’t rule out the possibility.
“Let’s check and see if there are any cameras.”
“Okay.” Shen Youwei nodded and went upstairs with Guan Shanyan.
The hidden cameras spying on Nan Xu were in the dressing room. Judging by the angles in the photos, they could estimate the positions. After searching, they indeed found two cameras in the dressing room.
The studio’s surveillance system hadn’t been installed yet, so they couldn’t check who had entered the dressing room. Meanwhile, online rumors were already spreading, pointing at Shen Youwei’s studio.
After finishing a call with Gao Yun, Shen Youwei looked upset. Guan Shanyan handed her a cup of water and sat beside her: “What did Gao Yun say?”
“She said whoever installed the cameras, since they were in my studio, I’m responsible. They’ve reported it to the police, so they should come soon.” Shen Youwei regretted not listening to her mother and burning incense for luck earlier.
Lu Zhaoye comforted her: “The police will find the truth and clear your name!”
Shen Youwei said nothing. Even if the police proved her innocence, the impact on her studio would be hard to undo. Plus, Nan Xu’s photos were already circulating. Even though she was the victim, people would still blame her.
“Woof.” Tianquan nudged her at her feet, seeming to comfort her. Shen Youwei felt a sting in her nose. Just as she was about to pick him up, the scene suddenly shifted.
The next moment, she was back in Guan Shanyan’s car, holding her phone and taking photos of Tianquan.
Tianquan was buckled in, obediently sitting on the seat. Seeing Shen Youwei taking photos, he tilted his head toward the camera and wagged his tail.
Shen Youwei: “…”
She had come back again???
No matter how she got back, she was thankful to the heavens!
She sent Tianquan’s photo to He Man and went back to the studio with Guan Shanyan. Since it was his first time, she naturally gave him a tour.
Last time, they hadn’t visited the dressing room. Now, Shen Youwei urgently wanted to check if the cameras were still there.
Just as she was thinking of a reason to enter, Tianquan suddenly barked and ran into the dressing room.
“…” He Man might not be very smart, but her dog was brilliant!
“Tianquan, why are you going in there?” Shen Youwei followed, pretending to be surprised.
Tianquan ran around the dressing room. Shen Youwei took the chance to check the previous camera locations, both were gone.
What? If the cameras weren’t pre-installed, then the only possibility was that someone had planted them after Nan Xu’s team arrived.
Guan Shanyan checked the spots too and confirmed they were empty.
Seems the problem was really with Nan Xu’s team.
After Tianquan ran around, Guan Shanyan finally caught him and carried him out.
Coming downstairs, Lu Zhaoye’s car was parked at the studio entrance.
Guan Shanyan snorted: “Why is he here?”
“Oh, he knew I had a project today, so he came to help.” Shen Youwei walked mechanically toward the door.
“Brother Guan, you’re here to help too!” Lu Zhaoye greeted him cheerfully again.
Guan Shanyan responded again with an expressionless “Hmm.”
Like replaying a game mission, he went through the process again, waiting for Nan Xu and her team to arrive.
Last time, everyone had been focused on styling Nan Xu and hadn’t paid attention to the other staff. This time, Guan Shanyan deliberately kept an eye on the staff Nan Xu brought along.
Nan Xu’s group had five people in total: Nan Xu herself, Gao Yun, two assistants, and a photographer. The photographer only arrived after Nan Xu’s makeup and hair were mostly done, so he was unlikely to be the culprit. Among the remaining four, Guan Shanyan was most suspicious of the male assistant who came along.
Guan Shanyan quietly observed him. Previously, he hadn’t noticed him at all, but now, looking with results in mind, every movement of the assistant seemed suspicious.
Shen Youwei was also a bit distracted. The cameras in the dressing room had been secretly planted while she was styling Nan Xu. She desperately wanted to catch the culprit, but Nan Xu’s makeup and hair required her full attention. She wished she could split into two.
If she could rewind time, why couldn’t she split into two?
“Woof woof!”
A dog barked suddenly outside, and Shen Youwei froze mid-motion.
Last time, Tianquan had been very well-behaved, staying on the first floor as a watch dog. But this time, not only did he cause a commotion in the dressing room, he had now come upstairs?
“Sorry, I’ll go check on Tianquan.” Shen Youwei told Nan Xu and turned around, only to realize Guan Shanyan had left without her noticing.
She frowned, surprised at how quick he was, and hurried toward the source of the barking.
Outside the dressing room, Tianquan was barking at the door. Guan Shanyan stood next to him, blocking the exit completely.
“What’s going on? Why are all of you here?” Shen Youwei rushed up.
Guan Shanyan said, “Tianquan led me here. Once I arrived, I saw this person sneaking around in the dressing room.”
Nan Xu’s assistant looked a bit pale. He smiled nervously at the two outside with the dog: “I was just looking around, nothing improper.”
Hearing the commotion, Gao Yun came over as well: “What happened?”
Shen Youwei pointed at the person inside: “Is he Nan Xu’s assistant?”
“Yes.” Gao Yun looked at Sun Yi in the dressing room and felt something was odd. “What are you doing in there?”
“I’m just looking around.” Sun Yi forced a smile even more than before. “But the little dog doesn’t seem to like me being here, haha.”
Shen Youwei crouched down and petted the wary Tianquan. Then she addressed Sun Yi: “This is the dressing room. There’s really nothing to see here.”
Sun Yi chuckled awkwardly: “Your studio is nicely decorated. I just wanted to take a look.”
“Is that so?” Guan Shanyan pulled out his phone and played a video. “But what I just recorded seems different.”
Upon hearing this, Sun Yi’s face instantly turned pale. Guan Shanyan deliberately held the screen in front of Gao Yun so she could see clearly: “Your assistant was sneaking around in the dressing room, planting something.”
“I didn’t! I didn’t!” Sun Yi stubbornly denied, even caught red-handed. “I was just looking around!”
Tianquan ran inside and barked at the spot where the camera had been hidden. Shen Youwei went over, felt around the area, and pulled out a camera.
“This looks like a pinhole camera?” Shen Youwei frowned, puzzled.
Gao Yun’s expression also darkened. She looked at the device in Shen Youwei’s hand, it was indeed a pinhole camera.
“It wasn’t me! You’re slandering me!” Sun Yi tried to run out, but Guan Shanyan stood at the door, blocking him like a fortress.
“Do you want to confess yourself, or wait for the police?” Guan Shanyan said coldly.
At this moment, Lu Zhaoye came upstairs, curious: “What’s going on?”
He had only gone to the restroom, what had he missed?
Sun Yi had just chatted with him, knowing Lu Zhaoye was a boxing coach. Even Guan Shanyan alone was intimidating, and now there was a boxing coach too,
“If you don’t speak, we’ll call the police.”
Guan Shanyan picked up his phone to call. Seeing this, Sun Yi quickly stopped him: “Wait! I’ll admit it. I did plant it.”
Guan Shanyan looked up: “Installed a camera in the dressing room? I’m calling the police.”
Sun Yi: “??”
“I already confessed, why are you still calling?” Sun Yi thought he could handle it quietly since he was Nan Xu’s cousin. But this designer Guan was turning his own rules against him.
Guan Shanyan: “I said I’d call if you didn’t confess. I never said I wouldn’t call if you did.”
“…” Was he speaking human language?
“Sister Gao, involving the police won’t look good for anyone, right?” Sun Yi looked at Gao Yun. She frowned, not answering, she had never liked him. He was forced into the assistant role by relatives, and she never expected him to install a hidden camera.
Was this his first time, or did he have a prior history?
She worried that police involvement might affect Nan Xu. But Shen Youwei spoke up: “Call the police. This is my studio. I am responsible for myself and my clients.”
