Chapter 16

“Success!” Xing Luo exclaimed excitedly, springing to her feet.
Although she was only at level twenty, as long as she had cultivation, she could once again use some of the secret techniques from her past life.
As long as she didn’t run into a monster like Ye Lixiao, who was nearly at the maximum level, she would have no trouble protecting herself.
Xing Luo was about to sit down and rest, but the moment she turned around, she saw Ye Lixiao standing silently at the doorway, his expression unreadable as he looked at her, as if lost in thought.
Her heart immediately skipped a beat.
Could Ye Lixiao have noticed something? What if he figured out she was Xing Luo? He hated her so much, if he discovered her true identity while she was on his turf, he might just kill her on the spot.
No! Even if he suspected her, she absolutely couldn’t admit it!
But to her surprise, Ye Lixiao didn’t ask a single question. He simply strode inside.
His gaze fell to the shattered table on the floor, and he spoke calmly, “You just advanced to level twenty, you still can’t control your power. From now on, if you want to cultivate, do it outside.”
“Yes, Your Highness.” Xing Luo let out a quiet sigh of relief. It seemed Ye Lixiao hadn’t seen her using that rune technique just now. He must’ve assumed the table broke because her power surged too quickly after leveling up.
That saved her from a lot of explaining.
What she didn’t know was that Ye Lixiao had seen everything clearly.
Xing Luo wasn’t the only person in the world who could draw runes, but other cultivators drew them on paper. She, however, had drawn hers in midair.
Right now, she was just a little newly transformed kitten. By all logic, she shouldn’t even understand how to cultivate, let alone use a secret technique that only the former Demon Queen, Xing Luo, could perform.
Ye Lixiao’s gaze darkened further. Could it really be her.?
Even though the answer was already forming in his heart, he didn’t ask.
If it really was her.
He was afraid she might run away.
After all, she had hated him so deeply and believed he hated her too.
Hidden inside his wide sleeve, his hand had already clenched tightly into a fist. He forced down the swell of emotion threatening to break through, keeping his face perfectly composed, showing not a hint of what he felt.
No one knew how his heart trembled with joy and disbelief. The person he loved, the one he thought he’d lost forever, had returned to him.
He wanted nothing more than to pull Xing Luo into his arms right now.
But he didn’t dare. He was afraid of frightening her away.
So, for now, he would act as though he noticed nothing. Only then could she safely remain by his side.
Still, part of him feared, what if it was just a coincidence? What if this little cat was simply gifted, born with these abilities?
He needed to be sure.
Ye Lixiao flicked his sleeve, and the debris on the floor vanished instantly, leaving the room spotless.
Then, he ordered a new table to be brought in and food to be served. Xing Luo had been cultivating for hours; it was already time for the evening meal.
After they finished eating, Ye Lixiao finally spoke again. “You seem. very eager to strengthen your cultivation.”
Xing Luo nodded her small head.
“In that case,” Ye Lixiao said evenly, “tonight, you’ll sleep with me.”
“…” Xing Luo blinked, her mind going completely blank.
What did he just say?!
Ye Lixiao, utterly serious, explained, “Staying by my side will speed up your cultivation.”
That, at least, was true. His power was so immense that his body naturally absorbed spiritual energy from the air. Any low-level cultivator near him would benefit from the overflow.
And for Xing Luo, that offer was extremely tempting.
