Chapter 23

Among the items that fell to the ground, besides the clothes, there was also a token.
Ye Lixiao drew the token into his hand. Carved on it was the character “Qi”, a token that only someone from the Qi family could possess.
The Qi family was the residence of the Right Chancellor.
Earlier today, the Right Chancellor’s daughter, Qi Xuan, had come to the study to see Ye Lixiao and had also met Xing Luo. That night, Xing Luo had been targeted for assassination.
It was likely that the black-clothed man who had turned to ashes was sent by Qi Xuan.
It was normal for the Qi residence to have a few highly skilled subordinates. But if Ye Lixiao hadn’t left a trace of his demonic aura on Xing Luo, allowing him to sense her safety at all times and arrive in time, she would have been in grave danger today.
A trace of killing intent flashed in Ye Lixiao’s eyes. Qi Xuan would no longer be allowed to live.
“You’re badly injured? Let me see.” Xing Luo furrowed her brows and lifted Ye Lixiao’s injured arm to examine the wound.
His sleeve had been slashed open with a large tear, cutting through the clothing underneath as well. On his arm was a long, deep gash, skin and flesh torn open, blood flowing continuously, it was horrifying to see.
“Do-do you have any elixirs? Take them quickly!” Xing Luo urged anxiously.
Unlike the scratches she had made on Ye Lixiao’s face with her claws before, which would instantly heal on a normal person or animal, wounds inflicted by a cultivator healed much more slowly.
Such a large wound, even with elixirs, would take at least two to three days to fully recover.
Ye Lixiao must be in a lot of pain.
Xing Luo felt a strange pang in her heart, almost as if she were aching too. A peculiar feeling spread through her.
Ye Lixiao hated her, didn’t he? So why did he personally block that attack for her?
Her experiences in her previous life clearly told her that Ye Lixiao hated her. In this life, upon entering the Demon Palace, Yuan Xiu also told her that mentioning the former Demon Lord Xing Luo was forbidden, so clearly Ye Lixiao disliked her. Yet, why would he save her.?
And not just once.
Xing Luo now resembled her past-life self closely. If Ye Lixiao truly hated her, he should not care whether she lived or died.
Yet his actions were unlike someone who hated her. What exactly was going on?
“Are you concerned?” Ye Lixiao lowered his gaze, staring directly at Xing Luo.
Xing Luo was stunned; her reaction had been more intense than she expected.
By all logic, she also disliked him. Even if he had saved her, she shouldn’t feel this worried for him.
But seeing Ye Lixiao injured because of herself, she couldn’t help feeling suffocated inside.
It wasn’t guilt over being saved; she simply didn’t want to see him hurt.
Reluctantly, she realized that she truly felt concern.
Xing Luo forced a tone of toughness. “Your Highness saved me, so I’m worried about you. Isn’t that normal? You should take the elixir quickly to stop the bleeding.”
Xing Luo could help stop the bleeding, but being only Level 20, her ability was limited.
Ye Lixiao looked at her deeply, then withdrew an elixir from his sleeve and swallowed it.
Soon, the bleeding stopped, though the wound would still take at least two days to fully heal. During that time, Ye Lixiao clearly couldn’t do much on his own.
