Chapter 8
Ye Lixiao hated physical contact. He couldn’t stand anyone coming close to him.
As the Demon King, his palace naturally housed countless women in his harem, but he had never once set foot inside it.
There was only one woman he had ever wanted to touch, yet that woman was long dead.
Xing Luo blinked her large eyes. He wouldn’t let her touch him?
She looked down at herself, her figure was quite alluring, yet Ye Lixiao didn’t seem the slightest bit tempted.
Come to think of it, even in her past life, she had never seen a single woman by his side.
Could it be, he was incapable?
Or, did he like men?
A sly glint flashed in Xing Luo’s eyes. She seemed to have discovered something rather interesting.
“Alright, alright, I won’t touch you. But can I at least skip school?” she asked carelessly.
“No.”
Before Xing Luo could argue, Ye Lixiao had already strode toward the door and pushed it open.
“Your Highness!” He Chen and Yuan Xiu were standing guard outside.
The moment the door opened, both men lifted their heads, only to see the woman inside the hall.
They froze in unison. A woman?
How could there be a woman in their lord’s palace?
Their lord had always been utterly indifferent to women! Except for that one person.
And this woman’s appearance, she looked about seventy percent similar to her.
Could it be, this was a substitute His Highness had found?
“Your Highness, she.” He Chen began, but hesitated.
“She will be my attendant from now on,” Ye Lixiao said coldly. “Go and buy her some women’s clothing and daily necessities.”
“Yes!” He Chen bowed and left.
Ye Lixiao turned to Yuan Xiu. “Teach her the rules here.”
“Yes, Your Highness.”
Then, Ye Lixiao left the palace.
Once he was gone, Xing Luo walked to the doorway, a playful smile tugging at her lips as she looked at the rugged-looking Yuan Xiu. “His Highness named me Luo’er. And you are?”
Of course, she already knew who Ye Lixiao’s two trusted aides were, but for now, she had to pretend she didn’t.
“Yuan Xiu,” he replied.
“His Highness said you’d teach me the rules,” Xing Luo said, tilting her head. “So, what rules? Tell me.”
Yuan Xiu’s expression grew serious. “There aren’t many rules in the Demon Palace. Just two you must never forget. First, our lord despises people getting too close to him. Don’t approach him casually. Second.”
He paused, his tone growing heavier. “There’s one person you must never mention in front of him.”
“Who?” Xing Luo’s curiosity was piqued. Who could be so forbidden that even speaking their name was taboo?
“The former Demon Queen, Xing Luo,” Yuan Xiu said gravely. “That name is a forbidden one in this palace. Never mention it before His Highness.”
After Xing Luo’s death, her elder brother Xing Liuche had ascended as the new Demon King. She herself had become nothing but history.
“The Demon Queen, Xing Luo?” She froze. The great taboo of the Demon Palace. was her?
“Why can’t she be mentioned?” she asked.
“Don’t ask too much. Just remember, it’s forbidden,” Yuan Xiu said sternly.
“And if I do mention her?” Xing Luo arched an eyebrow. “What would happen?”
Yuan Xiu frowned. “If you want to die, you can try.”
“Then I’ll pass,” Xing Luo muttered, her gaze darkening.
She hadn’t expected that in Ye Lixiao’s palace, even mentioning her name was prohibited.
Did he really hate her that much? Hate her so deeply that anyone who dared speak of her would lose their life?
She truly didn’t understand what she had done to make Ye Lixiao despise her so completely, hate her enough to wish her dead.
